Surprise Stay At Home Day
February 5, 2014 was a day New England got hammered by snow. The storm was predicted to be so bad that the Sheriffs cancelled transport the day before. The end result was I had no cases scheduled in court. Bianca was on sabbatical and Goddard closed. So, just like that, we had a day all to ourselves with NOTHING planned. When you have a 3 1/2 year old there is probably no better gift than a FREE, UNPLANNED stay at home day.
We woke up and lounged around. Knowing that we'd burn off the calories shoveling snow, we had a big breakfast of waffles. Then we lit a fire and watched the Lego Movie preview (which opened the following weekend). After that, we shoveled out, despite the still incessant snow. After that we retreated into the house, popped some popcorn, and watched one of the very best movies I have seen in a long time--Iron Giant. We had also built a pillow mosh pit and all we did was cuddle, chow on popcorn, and hang out.
In the evening we had some delicious dinner and then chilled out some more, playing on the train/Lego table. Mom is working on a scale model of our house.
All in all, it was a spectacular day and an amazing gift. An uninterrupted day with your 3 1/2 year old son is just too wonderfu.
