Halloween on Hold

Fitchburg's Halloween was put on hold because of a large and surprising October snowstorm.  It is now set for Thursday, though that did not prevent Dad and Isaac from suiting up for trick or treating yesterday evening.  Nonetheless, we were fortunate because we filled the Halloween delay with three pre-Halloween events.

First up, was the pumpkin festival in Keene last weekend.  Normally about 80,000 people show up and there have been upwards of 30,000 CARVED pumpkins in the past.  This is all the more impressive because Keene only has about 20,000 residents.  Uncle John was nice enough to host, telling us where to park and where to go.  We met the cousin crew as well.  Colby and Myles introduced Isaac to a variant of Ring Around the Rosie we had never seen before--Full Contact RATR.  It starts out normal enough, singing and hand holding, but about 1/32nd of the way through the song (so just about the time you finish saying "ring" the first time) everyone pig piles and wrestles for a few minutes only to stop, stand up, grab hands, and repeat.   Isaac loved it.  Keene was really amazing and it was awfully nice to see everyone.  The three boys seemed to have the most fun looking at pumpkins, sneaking into a "Smoke" Shop on Main St (which happened much to the dismay of the owners who shooed all three of the boys out very quickly), and playing Full Contact RATR on the lawn in front of a pizza place.  Isaac and Mom got their picture taken with the largest pumpkin I have every seen.  Here they are (Isaac following in Dad's footsteps and not really smiling in pictures):

After that, the next day Isaac and Dad hung out at Holy Cross while Mom did an open house for prospective students.  Dad has a history of sneaking around colleges and finding cool stuff to do, having been to dozens of swim meets with Auntie Monica when she was younger.  I even remember sneaking into the Horseshoe at Ohio State and climbing up into the press box.  Well, Isaac and Dad were ready and we went urban exploring at Holy Cross.  Here is a cool video of Isaac and Dad at the football stadium (it is loud, so be ready):

Then last Friday we had the office Halloween Party at the Public Defender.  Dad went and picked up Isaac, which was super cool, BTW, and took him to work.  Isaac donned his Reepicheep costume and we were ready for the fun.  Check him out being serious and all:

He had a good time with everyone, kids and adults a like.  We did some office trick or treating.  Isaac really liked the glow in the dark finger from Pam and he really warmed up to Kristin (she was great with him, so it is not hard to see why):

So, even though Halloween was delayed, we had plenty of Halloween fun in the meantime.
